About Allan and Mhairi

Allan Lipp is full-time coxswain with the RNLI on the Wick lifeboat. Allan started his career volunteering as lifeboat crew in 1996 in Invergordon. He went on to work as a fleet staff coxswain supporting crews around the country, before moving to Wick in 2020.

Mhairi Ross is a paramedic with the Scottish Ambulance Service and a volunteer navigator with the RNLI on the Wick lifeboat, bringing both emergency medical care and navigational skills to the team.

Together, they have over 35 years of sea-going service, so they make a formidable team, better prepared than most to handle any challenges that they may encounter on the journey.

The pair have taken several months of unpaid leave from their jobs to commit to the challenge. They have followed a strict training regime in the lead up to their departure, scheduling gym training around their busy work shifts.
